Swimming at the base pool of Manoa Falls is strictly prohibited. You’ll see posted signs warning visitors of the dangers, and ticketing visitors who disobey is not uncommon.
The runoff water in the pool is often contaminated with leptospirosis bacteria that can cause high fever, muscle aches, and vomiting, and completely ruin your vacation.
The terrain around the waterfall is treacherous with slippery rocks, and falling rocks from the cliff above can cause serious injuries.
